Show #7 was released in December 2, 2007 but the information in there is still relevant and useful today that I felt the need to share it with you.

In the podcast, Andy Rutledge says that there are four things you must do well in order to get more clients, better clients, and better projects:

  • Be very good at what you do
  • Have a great portfolio and reputation
  • Behave professionally in every aspect of your work
  • Have core values that govern your work and behavior, and never deviate from them

One of the reasons that I like Firefox is the amount of high quality add-ons that are available. They make my life so much easier and they also increase my productivity. However, there are so many add-ons out there that it might be difficult to pick out which ones are good. So, I’ve compiled a list of add-ons that I use and recommend for web design. If you are a web designer, you should already be familiar with these, but I still wanted to share this list for those who are interested in or have just started getting into web design.

1. Firebug

Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page.

2. YSlow

YSlow analyzes web pages and why they’re slow based on Yahoo!’s rules for high performance web sites.

3. Page Speed

Page Speed is an open-source Firefox/Firebug Add-on. Webmasters and web developers can use Page Speed to evaluate the performance of their web pages and to get suggestions on how to improve them.

4. Web Developer

The Web Developer extension adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools.

5. FireFTP

FireFTP is a free, secure, cross-platform FTP client for Mozilla Firefox which provides easy and intuitive access to FTP servers.
